D Is 4 Division (Math)

D is 4 D-I-V-I-S-I-O-N,

Which makes math a lovely function.

Division is fun,

If u r its fan.

Any number is divided by 1,

The answer is the same one.

An even number is divided by 2,

U get half of the number, true!

An odd number is divided by 2,

U end up with a reminder, not cool,

Any number is divided by itself,

The answer is 1, what fun!

Division is the inverse of  multiplication,

Practice makes perfection.

If C is divided by A equal to B,

Then A times B is equal to C,

And B times A is also equal to C.

For instance,

100 is divided by 4 is 25,

4 times 25 is 100,

25 times 4 is also 100.

Division is tough,

If u don’t work hard enough…

I love divisions,

Because it is cool,

Work on the below versions,

Divisions love U!

  1. “An odd number is divided by 2,

These got a few chuckles out of me. I know a few elementary teachers who would love to hang this in their classroom. Great job Jingle!!

  2. This one was so fun, Ji!!
I actually wish my math teacher had taught me division in this manner… She didn’t! But thankfully for me, I still love Math… phheww

This was toooo sweet! When I have kids, I would really love to send them to you for Math… they too will love Math that way 🙂
    You are awesome!~!

  3. Math was never my best subject in school and now I’m really mixed up. A plus B equals C… where are the numbers, never could get the hang of that. LOL… loved your D Day math quiz today. But, I earned an F instead of a D.

  4. what a crafty poem about math!!! Jingle I don’t know how you find the time to be so poetically incline and involved!!! I love ur work as always!

  5. Clever. Just wondered if the ‘reminder’ was deliberate, for humour, or was meant to be ‘remainder’? If the former, it is a good idea to place it in inverted commas to make it clear it is deliberate!

  6. I do Flash 55 on a Friday – what do you think of this….

    Today’s maths children!

If it takes two men, each approximately 550 centimnetres tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds each, twenty hours to build a wall, twelve metres long and three metres high with a width of thirty centimetres, using concrete which is fifty percent water 30 percent sand and thirty percent cement what did they have for breakfast?

    lol!

  7. Whether it’s serious thought or one of whimsy, your poems are so much fun to read. having little poetic ability, I truly appreciate your talents. As for the math, I just don’t think one should mix letters and number! 🙂

  9. I’m a math flunkie. But I can tell you about dactyllic hexameter, if you want. If you don’t already know.

  10. Oh, if only all maths could be visual, I’d do SO much better! LOL! I flunked maths at school. Never been any good at it at all.

I had a job once totting up numbers all day and actually got quite good at the basic stuff; addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. But now I don’t need to, it’s all gone again. *Sigh*
