The distant land withers,
The cactus flowers wrap up,
Storing morning dews
inside the petal cup.
The tired town is clothed in shaded orange,
across October prairie landscape,
shadows of woods engage
in slow dancing realm and quietude.
Lone coyotes howls, bats appear,
Cattle sleep standing, pasture of placid resignation,
Elephants become lazy, stars shift gear,
Animals dream about impossible association.
Ghosts roam in the darkness,
enjoying some undisturbed peace.
