30 poems in 30 days-day 23

Am I supposed to be full of rage

simply because challenges intend to doom?

No, not someone at my age,

Words won’t sweep my dreams to a tomb,

I know I have to watch for sighs,

Someone stay high with showing breast,

Others get attention with neat thighs,

I’m myself, not melting in the west,

I won’t be mad

When people send me their blues,

I do enjoy wearing a skirt with pattern plaid,

And having a comfortable pair of  shoes.

I fear nothing, if I fail,

I won’t wail in the mail.

sharing it with Poetry Potluck at Jingle Poetry Week 46 today!

NaPoWriMo: http://www.napowrimo.net/ (Day  23)

Today’s prompt is to write a bouts-rimes. The bouts-rimes is a sort of poetic parlor game: you write a poem using the rhyming end words from another poem. They’re usually done with sonnets in English. So today we are asked to write a bouts-rimes sonnet, using the end words from either K. Silem Mohammad’s poemYou White White Teatime Teen, which was itself constructed anagrammatically from Shakespeare’sSonnet VI, or from Robert Frost’s The Silken Tent. So my end words are the following, I wrote my poem in 5 minutes, trying to end up with the requested words.

rage, doom, age, tomb , sighs, breast, thighs, west, mad, blues, plaid, shoes, fail, mail

  1. how you conveyed your strength and determination while incorporating the required words and maintaining the form is amazing, Jingle! ♥

  2. Kind of a fun exercise, there, and fun to read, too.

Funny thing is, the poem works really well, and somehow really seems to be coming from you, even though the target words are probably also giving it some of the vibe of the verses they came from, which I’ll guess, without having checked to see.

Somehow, I really like the plaid skirt and comfortable shoes. Also, “words won’t sweep my dreams into a tomb.

    1. the poem comes to me within 10 minutes, it writes itself when I stare at the words provided, trying to plot a story with poetic and rhyming senses.

thanks for the deep thoughts on it.

      🙂
