Between the dark and the daylight
When the night is beginning to lower
comes a pause in the day’s occupations
that is known as the Children’s Hour
–
Dad is out of town,
Mom is talking on the phone,
Anna and Amanda playing horse back ride in the living room
When they suddenly hear a “boom”.
–
There is a bark outside the door,
While Anna pick up her book from the floor,
“Who can that be?”
Anna and Amanda hold hands to flee.
–
The day is dark outside,
Shivers make the girls’ heart beat like a drum,
It is unsafe when kids are unattended,
Glad to see them going upstairs to be with their Mom.

Story in verse. Very nice, Jingle. Blessings to you…
Having been there many times when a noise or absence of noise is the trigger to go find the kids! Glad those times are over. Great illustrations.
Love it! Beautiful.

But we have to let them grow up and give them freedom. Something to think about.
Love this reminder to share the Children’s Hour rather than leaving them unattended… great piece!
What a lovely tale..a little darkness..a little excitement..and full of the safety of knowing when to go back to mum!…Jae
Interesting story…
I hope Mom had an ear out for the girls before they joined her. Love this Jingle. 🙂
Gave me a chill.
Sobering.
How interesting that, when I first read the phrase, “Children’s Hour,” I immediately assumed it was the time that parents spend with their children, having put away their jobs and adult responsibilities. And you presented it as a dangerous time when parents leave their children by themselves!
Never ever leave kids unsupervised!
They get up to all sorts of mischief! 🙂
It they’re quiet, check if they’re all right,
If it’s noise you hear, it’s probably angels flying near,
And if they hear a noise outside,
It’s time for them to run and hide.
that is very cute Jingle these children running up the stairs to be safe with their mom….thank you for posting and always supporting….blessings…bkm
So sweet Jingle. I suppose all your writing just reflects you, the way you are….
Oh! Gave me a little fright, there, Jingle! 😉
you created the scene with utmost perfection. loved the ending.
This is so beautifully done and such an enjoyable read. Love the underlying caution too so gently expressed 🙂 Care should surely be taken to avoid dangers and mistakes.
Beautiful and creative. Absolutely loved it
Everything’s a little scarier with Daddy out of town. Glad they’re heading for safety with Mom! 😉 Works well with the prompt and the image.
So nice write, Jingle. Love it 🙂
