Roads Diverge In A Dark Wood Plus Happy Belated Birthday Wishes 2 Heartspell

Staring at the computer screen 4 too long rusts the eyes,

Listening 2 the similar music over and over numbs the ears;

One has to sum up the courage to bid necessary goodbyes,

Even if it means that you end up in oceans of tears.

.

Roads diverge in a dark wood,

One shall explore as far as one could.

The road you take may be less traveled by,

But the adventures will keep your spirits high.

.

Attempt a different method each time,

An out-raged dog may bark at you,

As long as you are free of any crime,

Bark back to show the power of you too.

.

My sanctuary is to take a morning walk

So that I enjoy a silent talk.

I smell gardens of flowers but never  pick one,

I sense the breeze on lawns but hurt none.

.

I welcome each day without a frown

As I travel a fresh part of the town.

As the sun begins to burn,

I am satisfied to make a new turn.

  1. A lovely and fresh smelling poem, Jingle!
I agree with the message in it.. although it does induce tears at times…
“Attempt a different method each time,
An out-raged dog may bark at you,
As long as you are free of any crime,
Bark back to show the power of you too.” — LOVED these lines.. 😀
I am very scared of dogs, and I could just imagine myself barking back at them!!! And THAT was funny.. heheheh
Thank you for lifting my spirits and cheering me up…
    You are very thoughtful…

    1. I took a fresh routine another day early at 6am in my neighborhood,
two black dogs are unleashed and they jumped out barking at me,
I waved my arms and said: woof, woof, goodbye, guys, I walked away,
      thus this part is real,
      thanks for the kind words.
      😉

        1. not that brave,
I could not outrun the dogs, they are big,
I have to smile, say hi, wave goodbye so that they don’t bite me…

i was scared but had to remain calm…
          🙂

  2. Hi jingle.. Your poem was so inspiring.. And so strengthening.. Loved it much.. Gives a message that life is want we make out of it… Belief and conviction can take u through the hardest of moments… A fulsome beautiful life full of adventures… Again loved it…

  3. I love the idea of a walk as sanctuary. And your smelling flowers but picking none…….I hear a lot of barking at my house, I love the idea of barking back:) Good poem.

  4. Dearest Jingle,
This poem was so refreshing about a morning walk…very nicely done. I love to take walks and try to do so each day.
Thank you so, so, so, much for the beautiful birthday picture… I love it so much! And thank you for posting it …that was so sweet of you! Many have been to my blog with such nice wishes. Thank you, Jingle…you are such a love. Happy Day to you!
Is it ok if I post this beautiful picture on my blog? Heartspell

  5. It IS lovely how nature can make us well in our hearts and heads. And how wonderful when we realize we need a change of pace or activity — very wise indeed.

I liked this a lot, Jingle.

    xoxo

And wow! Nice cake for heartspell. I want cake NOW!! :0 🙂

  6. Hi Jingle, I love how you smell the flowers but never pick them, leaving their beauty for the rest of us to enjoy, well done.

  7. Cool poem with good advice. I had to laugh when I read this:

As long as you are free of any crime,

Bark back to show the power of you too.

I do! Especially my neighbour’s dog – he barks at me all the time and I have started barking back. It’s great! I’m developing a big, strong voice, and losing a load of fear while I’m at it.

I love walking too, it’s probably my most favourite activity… and just a great way to soothe a ruffled spirit.

  8. Oh, aren’t those solitary morning walks wonderful . . . invigorating, refreshing . . . ?

The rhyming of the poem is quite pleasureable, Jingle, as is the encouragement to take the road less traveled. Thank you!

And how kind to do a birthday celebration for Heartspell. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I did stop by with best wishes.

  9. It’s funny you writing this poem- years ago I wrote “In response to Robert Frost” and came up with this poem….I hope you will permit me to post it here…Loved your “roads diverge” take on it- haunting….

Paths meeting in the dark of night
    Choosing one-
    so hard to do.
    As one alone
    I stood waiting,
    Reaching in with my eyes
    To where it turned,
    And touching
    the other with my gaze,
I could see it was better.
For it was young and unaware
    Of anyone
    passing this way before.
    The paths were worn
    And that morning
    they were laid afresh
    With leaves
    newly fallen.
I left the first for another
Knowing how journeys lead to journeys,
I knew I may never go back.
I tell this story with remorse
    Somewhere in the future lies
Two paths at night when I
    Took the one
    left by the side
And this has brought me peace.

  10. Jingle

Your words are lyrical and clear, pure, and simple, we can spend too much time on this computer and lose perspective good to go for a walk about to have some peace.

Mined was a simple fix my server was down for a couple of days while they worked on putting in new underground cables.

    Lovely,
    Joanny

  11. The 4th stanza was my favorite. Admiring the beauty of nature but not disturbing it in the solitude of your morning walk. “You cannot see your reflection in running water, only in still water.” A favorite quote of mine from Eat, Pray, Love. I wish your weekends without Frowns!

    P.S. Happy Belated Heartspell!! ❤

  12. “One has to sum up the courage to bid necessary goodbyes,

Even if it means that you end up in oceans of tears.”

Oh yes, this is so very true, and I’m not just thinking of the pc either.

  13. “Attempt a different method each time, / An out-raged dog may bark at you, / As long as you are free of any crime, / Bark back to show the power of you too.” Think that’s wise advice for any artist trying to make a difference.
    Have a nice weekend 🙂

  14. “walking” also used to be my sanctuary until my “new” job took it away from me… the time, that is. so i’m leaving work soon and going back to my old job. that means, i can have my sanctuary back too. 🙂

    great poem as usual, jingle!

  15. happy birthday heartspell. well belated one from me too. wish you hundred more with greater joy, happiness and love in your world.
