I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars
*****
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars
*****
Look at me, look at me
hands in the air like it’s good to be
ALIVE
and I’m a famous rapper
even when the paths’re all crookedy
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to “De Colores”
And “I’m Proud to be an American”
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want cuz, look:
*****
I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome
*****
I can see your face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone
*****
Look at me
Look at me
Just called to say that it’s good to be
ALIVE
In such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule
*****
Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won’t stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let’em all die in exasperation
Have’em all healed of their lacerations
Have’em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don’t like’em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
*****
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handle bars
No handlebars
*****
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars
*****

for Theme Thursday (bike) at Theme Thursday
Jingle learned how to ride a bike at the age of 7, everyone in my family rides
bikes, and my younger son can RIDE HIS BIKE WITH NO HANDLEBARS ;).
And for Thursday Poets Rally!
I want to say thank you to Moondai for her kind nominations, xxx
Referring to The Perfect Poet Award Week 15, which Jingle accepts here.
For week 16, Jingle wishes to nominate Brian Waystationone, William at William
And Wordwand at Wordwand (These three are finalized for week 16)
Have FUN, everyone!

The Perfect Poet Award Week 15
When I was a young girl I too could ride a bike without handlebars too, and I could ride one sitting on it backward, and with my feet on the handlebars. I guess that I could ride a bkie anyway that you can think of, but today I can’t hold a bike up, but I will be 64 next Wednesday and haven’t been on a bike in years. LOL
brilliant, when I was young bikes were the rage, loved this dear, almost songlike xx
I like how the piece picks up from riding with no handlebars to world domination in the blink of an eye. Nice post Jingle. I have a contest over at my site today (First Ever- So exciting!). Pop by to check it out.

I have never heard that song before now! Funny 🙂 I’m pretty sure I can still ride a bike but I haven’t tried in a really long time.
Nice one jingle.. Jst dropped in to say hi!
neat song.
I tried to learn how to ride a unicycle. no luck.
Gotta have my handlebars
From Jr. high through college I practically lived on my bike. I still ride, but no where near as much.
Hi Jingle , I learnt to ride a bike at an early age but after so many falls and bruises.a lovely poem.
thanks ji for the nomination .hugs.
love it! Thanks for sharing and allowing me to participate! 😉
What great words … from the simple to the horrific, what we human beings are capable of doing. Makes me stop and say a little prayer that we all choose the humane way to live on our earth.
When I was young I rode with no handlebars…now, I hang on g=for dear life! LOL!
Amazing work, I loved the section of rhymes
“My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let’em all die in exasperation
Have’em all healed of their lacerations
Have’em all killed by assassination”
Though I a sucker for rhymes, i like your statement and over all poem i do believe this may be one of your best, at least by my opinion.

Hi Jingle,
I sometimes tried to ride without holding the handlebars and sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not. That was a great poem and jingle.

I’m jealous. The only time I managed to ride a bike with no handlebars I nearly lost my teeth 😉
Sweet and funny you.
😉
I didn’t know that song. I’m glad you posted it. It was a powerful reminder of all the things children can grow up to be and do, both good and bad.
Funny…part of my post was about crashing because of no handlebars…
Yo Jingle u made me aware of such a song..neat!when i ws young too which wasnt very long back 🙂 I used to be on my BMX n all these stunts of “look ma no hands” were d rage 🙂
now im a bit more mature but guess the bike shaped my attitude in life…
I still deal with problems with no handlebars sometimes…Cruising is cool..bikes are hot!
nice post…keep dropping in n keep writing!
I would watch the kids that could ride with out holding the handle bars, they always fell, but they still rode the thrill of not using the handle bars. I hated hitting the pavement:-) I found that same strength can take you though anything. Or just make you angry.
Great post, have a great Day!

To link the joyful abandon of a first bike ride & the ruthless abandon of a dictator– not everyone could pull it off. Nicely done!

I’m pretty sure I would NOT be able to ride a bike with no handle bars! ..well, not very far, any way. 🙂
I love these lyrics! They are really great and get the creative mind flowing. I sadly never learned to ride a bike. Maybe I should try some day 😉
Sarah
