55-Single Dad

Jim buckled his sick baby in a car seat.
After 5 tries,
He started the engine.
“God helps me, ”
Jim murmured,
Miserably.
His wife left him for a richer man,
He became Sam’s mom then,
Jim doesn’t want to remarry yet,
He is not sure he can ever trust another woman in his life again.

  1. It will not be simple
    It will not take long
It will take all your breath.

(My parenting mantra, when I was a single mom)

Well done, Jingle. Great follow up to Brian’s post, too.

Mine is a juicy combo-pack this week- it is here and also, just because I couldn’t stop myself… also, here.

  2. As great a blessing as our children are, I’m sure it’s very difficult to be a single parent. Despite the fact that I’m not a single parent, I still find it over-whelming sometimes!

  3. BRILLIANT, Ji!

  4. This is awesome. We all get hurt badly atleast once in life, but then we have to start trusting and loving again, otherwise we hurt ourselves not others.

  7. Excellent. Better to take his time than go on the rebound with a woman. Well done. Happy Easter to you and your family. Mine is up on my Portrait of Words blog 🙂

  8. A very difficult job whether you’re a man or a woman. 😦

Welcome to Flash Fiction 55 and thankyou for taking the time to read mine and comment.

  9. Poor Dad. Deserted, sick child, temperamental car… He must think he’s got a target on his back. I hope he is able to move on and meet a woman who will live him and his son.

    Nice job.

  10. This is such a tough subject. There is a lifetime of hurt and regret for either parent in these situations. There are somethings even a Buzzard won’t touch.

  11. “I normally don’t put up in Blogs but your website pressured me to, remarkable operate..
    stunning …”

  12. “Hello, I discovered your blog in a new directory of blogs. I don’t know how your website showed up, Your blog appears to be excellent. Have a good day.”

  13. “There is clearly a lot to understand about this. I believe you built some excellent factors in Functions also.Maintain working ,good job!”

  14. So sad and hard to be a single parent; I know this from experience. I love my son, but sometimes I found myself so lost that I didn’t know which way to turn, but I found that in order to be a good parent I had to admit to my son when I’d made a mistake and ask him to forgive me. I would ask him at the end of each week, if I’d done something wrong and if so maybe he could help me fix it. We kind of grew up together, so I guess you can say we raised each other. I wanted so badly to be the perfect parent to show everyone I could do, instead I ended up being a very human parent, mistakes and all and if I could, I’d do it all over again.
This piece brought out all kinds of memories and emotions. Job well done. Be blessed.
